Alexis and Alec’s spring engagement session in Upstate New York called for a location that felt a little different from the usual. In April, I met these two at a historic train station with beautiful architecture and a meaningful connection to the place Lexi grew up. The result was a unique setting for engagement photos that felt personal, creative, and completely their own.

Train stations offer such an interesting backdrop for engagement photography. Between the architectural details, long lines, open platforms, and character that comes with a place rooted in local history, there are so many ways to create photographs that feel distinct from a traditional outdoor engagement session. For Alexis and Alec, this station offered the perfect mix of visual interest and personal significance, giving us ample room to capture a collection of images that were both artistic and true to them.

April brought the beginning of spring to Upstate New York, making this session a lovely way to celebrate the season before the excitement of their wedding day arrived. Spring engagement photos have a charm all their own, capturing a fresh chapter for couples as they prepare for what comes next. With the train station’s architecture as their backdrop, Alexis and Alec’s session showed just how beautiful it can be to think beyond the expected when choosing a location for engagement pictures.

Whether it is the place where they first met, a favorite corner of their hometown, or a location with a history that feels personal, meaningful surroundings can make a session that much more special. I had the joy of photographing Alexis and Alec again just a couple of months later for their summer wedding at The Rosemary at Spano Lake. From their unique spring engagement session to their wedding day surrounded by loved ones, it was such a pleasure to document this exciting season of their lives. Their engagement photos are proof that a little creativity and a meaningful location can come together to create something truly special.
